The project started in 2012 under The Project of Survey, Accumulating and Researching of the Local Literatures in Western Thailand. Its purpose is to survey and collect information about manuscripts in western Thailand by making the digital copies of the manuscripts, and to continue the work of The Literature in Western Thailand Database Project, started in 1998, surveying names of the manuscripts at the time.

    With an amount of information, in 2015 the Center developed a website, The Western Thailand Manuscripts Database, to publish the digital copies of the manuscripts to people.
